Foundational Massage Therapy Training on Kauai, Hawaii
Master integrative bodywork, holistic health sciences, & trauma-informed care — while building a purpose-driven career in massage therapy.
Next 6 Month Course starts January 2026
At the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork (PCAB) we offer a foundational massage therapy program that integrates the science of touch with the art of relating.
Rooted in mindfulness and somatic psychology, our training prepares students to offer safe, effective, and attuned care — while also supporting their own personal transformation and professional growth.
The Three Pillars
Our Body-Heart-Mind approach to create confident, compassionate bodywork professionals:
Integrative Bodywork
Our students gain a strong, clinically-informed foundation in manual therapy techniques across multiple body systems. Training includes Swedish Massage & Spa Tools, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Deep Tissue & Myofascial Techniques, Lymphatic Drainage, Structural Integration Approaches, Abdominal, Pre-Natal, Thai Massage, and Craniosacral Therapy. This pillar emphasizes the integration of touch with anatomical knowledge, and developing the skills to respond to each client as a whole, dynamic being.
Mindfulness & Trauma-Informed Care
Mindfulness is foundational to how we teach touch — not just as a personal practice, but as a clinical and relational skill. It allows practitioners to remain aware of their own internal state, track subtle shifts in their clients, and respond with sensitivity and attunement. Rather than trying to fix or direct the client’s process, students learn to meet what’s present with curiosity, stability, and compassionate awareness — qualities that support meaningful, client-led change. This approach reflects the latest research in neuroscience, trauma, and somatics.
Holistic Health Sciences
We approach manual therapy as holistic healthcare — a practice that supports the body’s natural capacity for balance and repair, while addressing the interconnected layers of physical and emotional wellbeing. Students learn anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology alongside neuroscience, pain science, and somatic psychology, integrating this knowledge directly into hands-on practice for a more embodied learning experience. This pillar covers the structure and function of the musculoskeletal, nervous system, lymphatic, circulatory, digestive, reproductive, and respiratory systems, while also including Ayurveda and Elemental Medicine, Herbalism, and Ecopsychology as integrative components of whole-person care.
At PCAB, we believe in equipping practitioners with both heart-centered compassion & practical, career-focused skills.
Our six-month program offers in-depth training in whole-person healing, preparing you to create meaningful change in your community and beyond.
The Voice of Our Students
The Heart of Our Approach
-
Mindful & Relational Approach to Touch
We teach touch as a practice of presence. Students develop the inner awareness and emotional literacy needed to offer bodywork that is not just technically skilled, but deeply attuned to the whole person. Through mindfulness and relational practices, we teach how to track subtle shifts in clients, respond with clarity and compassion, and create sessions that support the emotional body.
-
Business Planning & Professional Guidance
Our 740-hour program is a full pre-licensing massage therapy training, designed to prepare students for both state licensure and a thriving professional practice. We offer business development courses, ethical practice training, and mentorship to support each student in building a career aligned with their values, skills, and vision.
-
Trauma-Informed & Nervous-System Supportive
Our curriculum is grounded in modern neuroscience and trauma-informed care. We teach how to recognize signs of dysregulation, co-create safety, and support nervous system resilience — skills that are essential for creating a safe, ethical bodywork practice. Pain, posture, and behavior are all approached through the compassionate understanding of nervous system intelligence.
-
Inner Work as a Foundational Practice
Our program invites students to engage in deep self-inquiry, emotional processing, and somatic awareness as core parts of becoming a healing presence for others. As a community, we explore authentic relating and mindfulness-based somatic psychology as a pathway toward inner stability, self-awareness, and embodied, therapeutic presence.
-
Cultures of Hands-On Healing
Our curriculum honors global healing traditions, including Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Thai Massage, Ayurveda, and Mayan Abdominal. Students graduate with a truly integrative and culturally responsive toolkit — one that prepares them to work skillfully and respectfully with clients from a wide range of backgrounds.
-
Kaua'i: Our Living Classroom
Our campus is nestled on the lush, healing island of Kauaʻi, where nature is not just a backdrop — it’s a teacher. We integrate principles of ecopsychology, nature-based resourcing, herbalism, and cultural respect for place into the curriculum, recognizing that connection to ʻāina (land) supports both nervous system resilience and spiritual transformation.
