Secure Housing, Build Community
Finding Your Home in Paradise
All registered students are connected with our own On-Island Resource Assistant (on of PCAB’s Alumni) to support them in their housing quest. Our Resource Assistant is available to check out housing listings for students moving to Kauai for the program, to offer advice, and to connect them with unlisted opportunities that come our way.
Once registered, students are also added to our class What’s App Group to connect with their future classmates for those who would like to share housing and resources while in the program.
Where to Look for Housing
Craigslist Kauai & Zillow – Explore local rental listings, many oriented toward vacationers but some long-term or sublet options are often available
Kauai Telegram groups - links to these local message boards are provided for all registered students
Facebook Housing Groups – Search for Kauai-specific housing groups
PCAB Student WhatsApp Group – Connect with classmates to coordinate shared housing and transportation
PCAB Resource Assistant - Our School’s personal guide for all incoming students

Navigating the Island: Getting Around Kauai
Kauai’s serene environment encourages slowing down and savoring life—but having a reliable transportation plan is essential for attending class and exploring the island. Many students carpool, rent cars, or even purchase used vehicles to make the most of their time in Kauai.
Transportation Options
Used Car Rentals or Purchases: Most students rent or buy used vehicles to explore the island freely. If you plan to move to Kauai long-term, you may consider shipping your vehicle with companies like Matson.
The Kauai Bus: Public transit routes include stops near campus, but this may prove challenging during periods of heavy rains. We recommend students acquire their own vehicle or arrange to carpool with classmates. Bicycling on the highway is not recommended—there is no designated bicycle lane.
Carpooling & Ride-Sharing: If acquiring your own vehicle isn’t possible, ask a classmate or TA for carpooling support. Kauai is a small island so odds are that someone in the PCAB Ohana lives nearby to support you.
Local Food & Farmers’ Markets
Nourish Your Body, Mind, and Spirit
Kauai’s abundance of fresh, vibrant food provides nourishment for learning and healing on a cellular level. The ʻāina provides everything we need to thrive, from fruits and vegetables to locally caught fish and grass-fed meats.
Where to Find Nourishing Food
Farmers’ Markets: Explore fresh, local produce and artisanal goods at markets across the island. We especially love the Kilauea market on Saturdays.
Grocery Stores: Kilauea Market and Foodland in Princeville offer essential groceries, while Healthy Hut and Hanalei Market provide organic and specialty items.
Diverse Dining Options: Enjoy a variety of cuisines, including traditional Hawaiian fare, plant-based dishes, juice bars, and coffee shops.
